Discover Spitsbergen Through Ski Touring

Embark on an unforgettable week of ski touring in Spitsbergen, a dream destination for lovers of wide-open spaces and thrilling adventures. Aboard an intimate boat accommodating up to 12 passengers, you will navigate the heart of the Arctic, between majestic fjords and snow-covered mountains. Each day will begin with waking up to breathtaking landscapes, before putting on your skis to explore untouched slopes and towering glaciers.

Accompanied by experienced guides, you will discover various routes suitable for all levels. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, each descent will be a unique adventure, marked by stunning panoramas and the striking silence of the polar expanses. The boat, a true floating refuge, will allow you to rest and share convivial moments over a good meal after your efforts.

This exclusive trip perfectly combines sport and discovery, offering you the chance to observe exceptional wildlife, such as polar bears, reindeer, and arctic foxes. In the evening, let yourself be lulled by the calm of the Arctic and, with a bit of luck, admire the magic of the Northern Lights illuminating the starry sky. An unforgettable adventure that will connect you to the wild nature of the Far North.

Ski touring dinghy

In details

Our trips start, depending on flights, on Saturday evening and end the following Saturday morning. Onboard, you are on a full board plan: a hearty breakfast for athletes, a substantial salty/sweet snack upon returning from your excursion, and dinner in the evening (as everyone has their own preferences, you must bring your own energy rations for the outings during the trip).

From Longyearbyen, the trips take place in the Northwest part of Svalbard.

You board at 7:00 PM upon arrival from your flight. Dinner and the first night onboard. We set sail that same evening or the next morning. You will be on skis from Sunday morning for your first ski touring adventure.

After each excursion, the boat sets sail to a new site. This short navigation takes place within the fjords, where the sea is generally calm. This is a special moment to relax at your leisure: take a hot shower, rest in your cabin, watch a video, enjoy the library, gather in the lounge, listen to music, or on deck, fish for cod or take photographs.

Each evening we stop. To enjoy tranquility and make the most of the surrounding view, we usually anchor. Depending on various factors (weather, sea conditions, snow cover, group dynamics), the guides and captain discuss the next day’s course and choose among the different possibilities.

In the morning, we take the boat to the foot of the route selected by the guide, and drop you off with the dinghy.

Our 6m rigid dinghy equipped with a 4m gangway at the front allows you to disembark with dry feet each day.

We return to Longyearbyen the evening before your departure.

After one last night onboard, you disembark after breakfast to catch your return flight.

Security

The isolated nature, maritime constraints, presence of polar bears, and the ski touring activity give this trip to Spitsbergen a "committed" character that requires good physical condition.

For safety reasons, groups must be accompanied by two “mountain guides” or two qualified individuals (ski instructor, French Alpine Club or CAF supervisor).

Therefore, we can accommodate 10 skiers and 2 guides.

If you have a group without a guide, we can direct you to guides we know or specialized travel agencies that can provide you with the necessary guiding services and mandatory insurance.
